About Us

We'll be straight with you - and that honesty is the whole point of this site.

We're not veterinarians. We don't have a polished origin story or a product we're secretly desperate to sell you. We're pet owners who got tired of pet-tech coverage that's all glossy features and no honest testing, and decided to do it properly.

Where this actually comes from

These days my house is run by my cats - say hi to Carl and Larry-, and they're a big part of why I started paying attention to pet health technology at all. The harder push came from watching the people around me.

Over the last few years, several friends have faced one diagnosis after another with their own animals, and every time they hit the same wall I would have: a flood of hype, glowing "best of" lists, and no clear sense of who to actually trust.

There's also a quieter reason, and I'll be honest about it because I think it matters. Back in 2020, I lost my dog to an illness that came on fast. I have no idea whether the monitoring tech that exists today would have changed anything - maybe it would have, maybe it wouldn't have, and I'm wary of anyone who'd promise you otherwise. But here's what stuck with me: at the time, I didn't even know these tools existed.

That's the gap this site is trying to close. Not to promise you a different ending - no gadget can do that - but to make sure you at least know what's out there, and which of it is actually worth your time.

What we do

We research, test, and explain the health side of pet tech - the collars that track resting respiratory rate, the wearables that notice subtle changes in how your dog moves, the monitors built for diabetic cats, even the habitat sensors that keep reptiles and birds safe. We dig into what actually works, what's worth the monthly subscription, and what's just hype dressed up in a nice app.

And when something isn't worth your money? We'll tell you straight up.

One thing we'll always be straight about

No device on this site can diagnose your pet, and none of them replace your veterinarian. The best pet health tech does one job well: it helps you notice changes a little sooner, so you can get your pet in front of a professional before a small problem becomes a big one. That's how we'll always frame these tools - as an extra set of eyes between vet visits, never as a stand-in for the vet themselves.

We're researchers and honest second opinions, not a replacement for the person who can actually examine your animal. When in doubt, trust your vet over any gadget - including the ones we love.
